61 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the information available to his Department regarding the level of activity of the organisation known as the Real IRA; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19715/99]

Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform (Mr. O'Donoghue): While I am briefed by the Garda authorities on matters of the kind raised by the Deputy, the House will appreciate that it has never been the practice for Justice Ministers to disclose publicly the contents of such briefings. In the circumstances, I am not in a position to disclose information of the kind sought by the Deputy in his question.
