Vol. 509 No. 1

Written Answers. - Student Accommodation.

Tony Killeen

Question:

320 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of applications received and approved for the qualification of residential development for third level students under section 50 of the Finance Act, 1999; and the location of these. [19823/99]

Under the terms of the scheme for tax relief under section 50 of the Finance Act, 1999, a person seeking tax relief must have obtained, inter alia, a letter of certification from a third level institution in regard to the student accommodation. Communication directly with my Department is not necessary.

However, my Department is currently seeking information from the third level institutions in regard to the number of requests received for letters of certification. The information will be communicated to the Deputy as soon as it becomes available.
