Question:

136 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position in relation to the water scheme for Killala, County Mayo.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 135 and 136 together.

No proposals have been submitted to my Department in relation to a water scheme for Killala. However, the Killala sewerage scheme is included in the Department's 1999 water and sewerage services investment programme as a scheme to be avanced through planning. The preliminary report for the scheme will be considered further by the Department on receipt of the results of the marine outfall survey which has been requested from the local authority.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

137 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position regarding the proposed sewerage scheme for Burtonport, County Donegal; the current stage of planning; and when work will commence on the project.

The scheme is included in the 1999 water and sewerage services investment programme to advance through planning. I understand that Donegal County Council is curently revising contract documents for the scheme. I am not in a position to indicate when construction will commence.
