Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

214 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when outstanding sheep headage payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal. [21174/99]

The person named applied for grants on 110 sheep under the 1999 sheep headage scheme but his initial payment was made on 82 sheep due to an inadvertent link with the number of quota rights he held under the 1999 ewe premium scheme which was also 82. As this person is also a participant under the REPS scheme and as the number of sheep he is allowed to carry under his REPS plan is 100 he will be due a balancing payment on an extra 18 sheep. This payment will be made shortly.

John V. Farrelly

Question:

215 Mr. Farrelly asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a REP scheme payment will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Meath; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21183/99]

The applicant concerned applied for a fourth year payment under REPS. This case was selected at random for a pre-payment on-farm inspection. This inspection was carried out on 28 October 1999. On foot of the inspection, it has come to my Department's attention that the applicant has sold all his land and has made an agreement with the new owner to continue to farm this land for the next three years.

My Department has requested certain legal documents in order to establish the applicants eligibility for payment under the scheme. On receipt of these documents, the application will be re-examined and processed as soon as possible.
