Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Dental Service.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

324 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the proposed extension of free dental services to medical card holders in the 35 to 64 age bracket; when the extension will take place; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21050/99]

Routine dental treatment is not yet available under the dental treatment services scheme to medical card holders in the 35 to 64 age group. I intend to extend routine dental treatment to this age group when I have confirmation through the HSEA of the acceptance of proposals put to the Irish Dental Association for resolving current difficulties regarding the operation of the scheme.
