Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Frances Fitzgerald

Question:

345 Ms Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Health and Children the cases, if any, brought to his attention whereby elderly patients have been admitted to geriatric wards rather than to specialist wards simply due to age considerations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21383/99]

Inquiries made by my Department of the general hospitals do not indicate that elderly patients are being admitted to geriatric wards rather than to specialist wards simply due to age considerations.

However, if the Deputy has a specific case in mind, I will be happy to have it investigated.
