Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Industrial Action.

Bernard Allen

Question:

365 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make a statement on the situation whereby five hospitals could be facing industrial action by non-consultant hospital doctors if outstanding issues are not resolved. [21545/99]

The terms and conditions of employment of non-consultant hospital doctors, NCHD, are negotiated and agreed at national level between the Health Service Employer's Agency and the Irish Medical Organisation. Where NCHDs experience problems with their individual employers these should be resolved at local level through the normal industrial relations procedures. I am not aware that any of these situations are at the point where industrial action is imminent.
