Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Pádraic McCormack

Question:

375 Mr. McCormack asked the Minister for Health and Children the position regarding the appointment of psychologists to deal with children suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in Our Lady's Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin 12; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21569/99]

I understand from Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, that a psychologist employed at the hospital to provide general support to psychology services at the hospital and to provide an assessment of children presenting with attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity, ADD, resigned earlier this year.

I further understand that it is the hospital's firm intention to recruit a replacement psychologist and that it is at present making every effort to do so. The Deputy will appreciate that the recruitment of staff to Our Lady's Hospital is a matter, in the first instance for the management of that hospital and that my Department has no direct involvement in the process.
