Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Polling Staff.

Question:

451 Mr. Hayes asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has put in place a system which allows all persons who are working as presiding officers or election clerks to vote in their appropriate constituency at all national elections; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21765/99]

Polling staff, whose duties at a presidential election or referendum prevent them voting at their local polling station, may be authorised to vote at another station, regardless of whether that station is situated in the elector's own constituency. In the case of a Dáil, European or local election, an elector in the situation referred to may be authorised to vote at any polling station in the constituency or electoral area in which they are registered.
