Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Richard Bruton

Question:

511 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of Garda stations in Dublin 3, 5, 9, 11 and 17, which have closed circuit television for security purposes; the number for which facilities have been approved; the date of installation proposed; if his attention has been drawn to the theft from a station (details supplied) of recovered goods; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21033/99]

Regarding the theft from the compound attached to the Garda station mentioned by the Deputy, I am informed by the Garda authorities that all the property was recovered and that a number of individuals are before the courts in relation to the matter. I further understand that security measures at that compound have been reviewed and augmented.

In relation to security provisions at Garda stations generally, I am informed by the Garda Commissioner that he would not regard it as appropriate to disclose details of such matters.
