519 Mr. Rabbitte asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will give a progress report on implementing divisional status for Tallaght in respect of Garda administration and policing; the number of gardaí at present at Tallaght station and within the division; the comparison with the city and division of Limerick; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am informed by the Garda authorities that the exact accommodation requirements to facilitate the upgrading of Tallaght Garda station to divisional headquarters status are currently under consideration. I am also informed that the current personnel strength pertaining to the Dublin metropolitan area south – DMA South – Limerick division, Tallaght and Henry Street Garda stations are as follows:

Question:

520 Ms Clune asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when he will provide a community guard in the Douglas area to replace the vacant position; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21151/99]

The detailed allocation of Garda resources to an individual area is a matter for the Garda authorities. They have informed me that the current personnel strength of Douglas Garda station is 20 members – all ranks. The Garda authorities also inform me that it is anticipates that the vacancy for community Garda in Douglas will be filled in the near future.
