Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Jack Wall

Question:

570 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will appoint a full-time resource teacher to Scoil Mhuire national school, Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21250/99]

My Department sanctioned nine hours per week part-time resource teaching support to the school in question, to assist in the enrolment of pupils with special needs. The school recently submitted details of other pupils who have been recently assessed as having a learning disability, together with an application for a full-time resource post to be shared with another local national school. My Department's inspectorate has been asked to examine this application and to report on the matter. On receipt of the inspector's report my Department will contact the school authorities.
