John McGuinness

Question:

607 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if he is in receipt of an application from the Presentation secondary school, Kilkenny, for a set of risers for the school choir; and, if so, when a decision will be made. [21406/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 606 and 607 together.

It is my understanding that the request for a careers library at the Presentation secondary school in Kilkenny refers to stocking the existing library at the school. It is open to the managerial authorities of the school to purchase stocks for the library from the annual per capita grants paid to the school.

A set of risers is not specified as a standard furniture requirement for post-primary schools. However, should the school authority wish to make a case to the building unit for grant-aid, the matter will be examined upon its merits.
