Question:

623 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will make a statement on recent reports that the Irish medical schools may follow the UK schools in setting up a four year graduate medical school curriculum; and if he will make a statement on any discussions that have taken place between him, the Department of Health and Children and the medical schools on this issue. [21544/99]

There have been no discussions between my Department and the Department of Health and Children on the establishment of a four year graduate curriculum for medical students, nor has my Department been involved in discussions with the Higher Education Authority or the individual medical schools on any proposal for a graduate curriculum for medical students.
