Vol. 509 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Placement.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

632 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the proposals, if any, he has to provide a place in the Mother of Fair Love School, Kilkenny, for a person (details supplied) in County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21683/99]

The child referred to by the Deputy is currently enrolled in St. Joseph's special school, Waterford. Officials in my Department are unaware of any request from her parents to enrol her in Mother of Fair Love special school, Kilkenny. The school has been closed for the mid-term break and my Department's inspectorate has been asked to make further inquiries when the school reopens.

Both St. Joseph's special school and Mother of Fair Love special school cater for pupils with mild general learning disability. The child in question resides in the catchment area of St. Joseph's special school, Waterford.
