Vol. 510 No. 2

Written Answers. - Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs.

David Stanton

Question:

61 Mr. Stanton asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment further to Parliamentary Question No. 33 of 9 June 1998, the results of the consultancy exercise commissioned to examine the practices and procedures employed in the Office of the Director of Consumer Affairs; the action, if any, taken as a result; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22023/99]

I am informed by the Director of Consumer Affairs that she intends to issue the invitation to tender, for the consultancy exercise to which the Deputy refers, within the coming weeks. The director considered that deferring the tender until now was necessary in order to give senior staff, who were new to her office, the opportunity to become familiar with its operations prior to undertaking the consultancy exercise.
