Vol. 510 No. 2

Written Answers. - Company Inspector Appointments.

Nora Owen

Question:

87 Mrs. Owen asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the plans, if any, she has to appoint an inspector to a company (details supplied) under section 19 of the Companies Act, 1990. [22054/99]

I am advised by the Registrar of Companies that Stanlow Trading Limited was dissolved on 27 August 1993 on being struck off the register under section 12 of the Companies (Amendment) Act 1982, as amended, for failing to file its annual returns. Thus, the company no longer exists, and my powers of investigation under the Companies Acts do not apply.

I have received representations in recent days from the IFA on this issue which I am considering in conjunction with the Attorney General's office. I plan to issue a detailed reply shortly, and I will forward a copy to the Deputy for her information once it issues.
