Vol. 510 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tuberculosis Incidence.

Alan Shatter

Question:

150 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Health and Children the number of persons who have contracted tuberculosis in each of the past ten years; the number of cases which have occurred in 1999; and if he will give a breakdown of the information by health board area. [22910/99]

The number of cases of tuberculosis notified to my Department in each of the years 1989-1999 is attached. The figures for 1998 are provisional pending completion of a process of validation, which is being undertaken by the health boards at present. The figures in relation to 1999 reflect the information received to date from the health boards in respect of the first two quarters of the year and so are not necessarily complete. These too may be subject to revision as further information is received.
