195 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Education and Science if a decision will be made on the application for an extension or replacement for buildings at Loreto secondary school, Balbriggan; and if he will grant approval for this necessary project. [22941/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 189 and 195 together.

An application was recently received by my Department from the management of Loreto secondary school, Balbriggan, seeking improvements to and replacement of existing school facilities. The application is currently under examination in the planning and building unit of my Department. As part of the examination process, all relevant factors will be considered, including the condition of the existing school building, enrolment trends, housing developments, and the availability of accommodation in adjacent schools in the area.
