Written Answers. - Investment Intermediaries Act, 1995.

Ruairí Quinn

Question:

59 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Finance the number of notices served by the Central Bank under section 16 of the Investment Intermediaries Act, 1995; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22689/99]

Under section 16(8) of the Investment Intermediaries Act, 1995, the Central Bank of Ireland was obliged to publish notice of revocation of authorisations in Iris Oifigúil within 28 days of revocation. This section was amended by the Investor Compensation Act, 1998, and since 1 August 1998 revocation notices are now also published in two daily newspapers.

The Central Bank of Ireland has revoked the authorisations of 28 authorised investment business firms under section 16 of the Investment Intermediaries Act, 1995.
