Vol. 510 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Appointments.

Bernard Allen

Question:

84 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the number of non-Civil Service appointments made to her office; the names of the appointees; and the expenses paid. [22785/99]

Since taking up office I have made two non-Civil Service appointments. I re-appointed Mr. Richard Moore, press adviser who had worked in this Department for my two immediate predecessors. Ms Karen Darkin was my Dáil secretary prior to coming into Government and on my appointment to Government in 1997 she transferred with me and continues to work in that capacity.

Mr. Moore's expenses for the period 26 June 1997 to date amount to £7,183.89. These expenses include home subsistence, foreign subsistence, mileage, hotel costs, entertainment costs and other incidental expenses. Ms Darkin has incurred no expenses since her appointment.
