180 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to increase funding for the special housing aid for the elderly scheme before the end of December 1999 in view of the fact it is the year for the older people. [23000/99]

Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government (Mr. Molloy):

In recognition of the valuable work being done under the special housing aid for the elderly scheme, £6 million was provided for the scheme in 1999, compared to £5 million in 1998. I am not in a position to further increase the amount this year.
