Vol. 510 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Noel Ahern

Question:

215 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education and Science further to Parliamentary Question No. 301 of 29 June 1999, the progress, if any, made in regard to making a contribution to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 9 who requests provision or assistance towards the provision of a fence between his property and a school. [23123/99]

My Department, in response to a request for the provision of fencing at the above school, commissioned a report on the boundary fencing with a particular aim of identifying the requirements of the school.

This report has been received recently and is currently being reviewed by the planning and building unit of my Department. As part of the review process, the Deputy can be assured that contact will be made with the person to whom he refers. When the review has been completed, the question of funding for any works which may be required will be addressed.

School Staffing.

Róisín Shortall

Question:

216 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of years for which a classroom assistant has been guaranteed to St. Pius X school in Terenure, Dublin 6W; and when this classroom assistant will commence employment at the school. [23133/99]

A special needs assistant was sanctioned to the school in question to assist in the enrolment of one pupil with special needs. The post is sanctioned to the school while this pupil attends St. Pius X NS, Terenure, Dublin 6W. I understand the special needs assistant took up duty on Monday, 8 November 1999.
