Vol. 510 No. 5

Written Answers. - Industrial Relations.

Michael Noonan

Question:

77 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Health and Children the savings, if any, which accrued to the Exchequer as a result of the nurses' strike; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22519/99]

It is impossible at this stage to calculate the level of savings as there are questions of additional overtime, etc., by medical and other staff to be set against the amount of salaries unpaid during the strike. My intention is that any savings that will accrue will be used for patient care.
