Vol. 510 No. 5

Written Answers. - Harbours and Piers.

David Stanton

Question:

91 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the surveys, if any, which have been carried out in Cork Harbour under the auspices of his Department or the Marine Institute; if he will give details in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23121/99]

Arising from the dredging of infill material from Cork Harbour for the Jack Lynch Tunnel, the contractors to the project carried out a post-dredge survey in February 1998. The report which was furnished to the Department showed that the extraction of material had been confined to the areas licensed under the Foreshore Acts for that purpose.

No other such surveys have been carried out under the auspices of my Department or the Marine Institute.
