Vol. 510 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

197 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance if he has received submissions in respect of an organisation (details supplied) in Dublin 1; if so, if he will consider these in the context of the forthcoming budget; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23219/99]

I received correspondence from the organisation in question seeking support in relation to an appli cation for funding which they have made to the Arts Council. As the Arts Council lies within the remit of the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, the correspondence was forwarded to my colleague the Minister, Deputy de Valera for consideration, and the organisation was informed accordingly.

As a result of Deputy Durkan's request, the organisation will be considered for funding in the context of the forthcoming budget, along with the many other requests for funding which I have received. However, I must point out that it is not possible to accede to every request for funding which is received at budget time.
