Vol. 510 No. 6

Request of move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with notice of a motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy Howlin.

In accordance with the terms of Standing Order 31, I wish to give notice of my intention to seek to move the Adjournment of the Dáil to discuss the following specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent attention – the need for urgent action to end the dispute in which members of the Garda Síochána are refusing to operate the new Pulse computer system, especially in view of the implications for efficient record-keeping and access to information for members of the force. In view of the importance of this issue, I hope the Leas-Cheann Comhairle will agree to the request.

Having considered the matter fully, I do not consider it to be contemplated by Standing Order 31. Therefore, I cannot grant leave to move the motion.

Surprise, surprise.
