Vol. 510 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tax Refund Schemes.

Nora Owen

Question:

200 Mrs. Owen asked the Minister for Finance the consideration, if any, he will give in the budget this year to include people who are blind for eligibility under the disabled drivers' and disabled passengers' tax refund scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23357/99]

I am sure that the Deputy will appreciate that it is not normal procedure to indicate in advance what measures, if any, will be taken in the budget.

However, I can confirm that the disabled drivers' and disabled passengers' – tax concessions – scheme is under review by an interdepartmental group chaired by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. Pending receipt of the report of the group, I do not think it is prudent for me to comment on the matter one way or another.
