Question:

332 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs when an oral hearing will be scheduled to finalise a pre-retirement allowance appeal by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo. [23340/99]

The pre-retirement allowance of the person concerned was reduced with effect from 15 July 1999 based on a revised assessment of means derived from the yearly value of a holding and his spouse's British retirement pension.

His appeal against this decision was examined by an appeals officer who considers that the means have been properly and accurately assessed in accordance with social welfare legislation and has disallowed the appeal. The person has been notified of this decision.
