Vol. 510 No. 6

Written Answers. - Family Support Services.

John Perry

Question:

376 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Education and Science if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 94 of 25 March 1999, his attention has been drawn to the fact that considerable funding will be lost due to the inability to create a new lease for St. John's national school, Mountain Road, Tubbercurry, County Sligo, without rescinding the old lease; if he will intervene with the Chief State Solicitor and expedite the lease to enable the committee to draw on the funding portfolio in view of the fact the capital works programme must be completed by the end of 1999 and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23156/99]

I take it that the Deputy is referring to St. Joseph's national school, Tubbercurry. An application for the de-vesting of St. Joseph's national school is currently been processed in my Department and the matter is being progressed as quickly as possible having regard to the exigency of the current workload.

The Deputy will also appreciate that matters of a legal nature can take time to process.
