Vol. 510 No. 6

Written Answers. - Remembrance Day.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

77 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to mark the day of remembrance for road accident victims on 21 November organised by the EUFVR; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23333/99]

My Department received no invitation to participate in this event, which as far as can be established seems largely UK based.

The Fly the Flag campaign has been very recently promoted by the National Safety Council to highlight individual responsibility for road safety and the personal impact of road accidents. The opportunity for further campaigns of this type will be considered in due course.
