Vol. 511 No. 1

Written Answers. - Land Classification.

Michael Ring

Question:

89 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the gradient which must apply to land to be classified as mountain land rather than lowland. [23791/99]

There are a combination of factors used to classify land as mountain or lowland. The three main factors are altitude, herbage type and gradient. These factors may vary from site to site. However within these parameters the land is classified by an identifiable boundary, such as a road, a river or a townland boundary.
