Vol. 511 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Paul McGrath

Question:

143 Mr. McGrath asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if there is any discretion on the ten year rule in the context of the grant aid scheme to assist householders provide a private individual clean water supply; if so, whether this discretion rests with the local authority; and if he will review a case (details supplied). [23768/99]

A grant for the provision or necessary improvement of an individual water supply to a house may not be paid if, in the opinion of the local authority, the house concerned is under construction or has been constructed within the previous ten years.

There are no proposals at present to revise the eligibility criteria of the scheme.
