Vol. 511 No. 3

Written Answers. - Departmental Appointments.

John Perry

Question:

193 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Finance if a transfer will be put in place for a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24364/99]

Transfers to provincial locations, such as Sligo, are arranged in accordance with an agreement reached with the staff side at general council under the conciliation and arbitration scheme for the Civil Service. An officer's placing on the transfer list for a particular location is fixed in order of date of receipt of the application in the department concerned.

The office of the Revenue Commissioners, in which the person concerned is employed, operates a system whereby officers are required to serve for two years before a transfer application can be considered. In this case, the officer was recruited by the Civil Service Commissioners for the office of the Revenue Commissioners on 23 August 1999. When the two year period is completed, and should the applicant's placing on the transfer list be reached, the officer may then be considered for transfer.
The application for transfer to Sligo has been noted and has been forwarded to departments with offices in that location.
