Vol. 511 No. 3

Written Answers. - Funding Provision.

Rory O'Hanlon

Question:

202 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide funding for a home for an organisation (details supplied) in County Monaghan; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24019/99]

As the Deputy is aware, I am not yet in a position to comment on the level of additional funding which will be made available for the development of services to persons with an intellectual disability next year.

Each health board area, including the North Eastern Health Board, has a regional intellectual disability co-ordinating committee which identifies priorities for service development and co-ordinates the provision of services, including additional services as resources become available. The co-ordinating committee is representative of the health board, voluntary agencies and families of persons with mental handicap.

My Department will shortly be notifying the health boards of their allocations for 2000 and it is anticipated that decisions regarding the allocation of any additional funding will be taken by the regional co-ordinating committees early in the year 2000.
