Vol. 511 No. 3

Written Answers. - Nursing Homes.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

244 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will sanction X-ray facilities for the new nursing home being built at Killybegs, County Donegal. [24572/99]

Responsibility for the provision of services at the new community nursing unit, currently under construction at Killybegs, County Donegal, rests with the North-Western Health Board.

I understand that the board has identified the need to provide X-ray facilities in Killybegs thus providing localised access for people in South West Donegal. The board propose to provide space within the Killybegs community nursing unit development to facilitate the provision of X-ray facilities.

Additional resources will also be required to provide computerised radiology equipment which would allow for link up with the radiology department in Letterkenny General Hospital to facilitate on-line reading of X-rays etc. I will consider these proposals when they are formally put to me.
