382 Mr. Gilmore asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has received a request for roof repairs or roof replacement for Newpark school, Newtownpark Avenue, County Dublin; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that there are 13 separate leaks in the roof of this school; the consideration, if any, he has given to the case made by the school; the arrangements being made to carry out the necessary works; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Officials of my Department's building unit met with the principal of Newpark comprehensive school on 6 October 1999 at which a number of issues were discussed including a request for roof repairs.

Arising from this meeting, an architect was appointed to conduct an immediate assessment of the condition of the roof at the school and to recommend necessary remedial measures.
