Vol. 511 No. 5

Written Answers. - Capital Funding.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

78 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs the allocation of capital funding from his Department to be made to the Waterford constituency in the year 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24765/99]

As far as my Department is concerned the main area of capital expenditure would relate to information technology. At this time there are no plans for capital expenditure on information technology projects in the Waterford constituency during 2000. However, the information systems division of my Department reviews business and technology requirements for all areas on an ongoing basis and schedules its work and procurement programme accordingly.

The costs of capital projects for building or refurbishing offices used by the Department are borne by the Office of Public Works. No new expenditure of this nature is planned for 2000 in respect of the Department's Waterford offices.
