Vol. 511 No. 5

Written Answers. - Publication of Report.

Jan O'Sullivan

Question:

88 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reason for the delay in publishing the interdepartmental report on the recommendations of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities; when the report will be published; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24807/99]

The report of the interdepartmental task force on the report of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities has been completed and has been sent for printing. It is my intention to have it published on 13 December 1999.

The report will chart the substantial progress made to date in implementing the commission's recommendations.

It was not possible to complete the report any earlier because of the need to ensure that it contained details of the evolving Government initiatives, as set out in the national development plan and the review of the Government programme An Action Programme for the Millennium, which are aimed at further improving the situation of people with disabilities, their families and carers.
