Vol. 512 No. 2

Written Answers. - EU Sanctions.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

29 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the status of the EU embargo on petroleum and related products and the restriction on EU flights to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. [25482/99]

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 124 of 9 November from Deputy Bruton in which I described the sanctions that are currently being applied by the European Union to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. These include the prohibition on the sale and supply of petrol and petroleum products to the FRY and a ban on flights between the EU and the FRY. There has been no change in the status of these two measures since I gave that reply. However, as I indicated in reply to Question No. 119 of 23 November from Deputy Bruton, the EU has exempted Montenegro, which is part of the FRY, from the oil embargo and flight ban.
