Question:

175 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if special beef premium payments will be made to persons (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if payment will be expedited. [26143/99]

The new herdowner applied for premium on 32 suckler cows under the 1999 suckler cow premium scheme and for grants on 35 cows under the 1999 beef cow scheme on 2 June 1999. It has been established that the applicant is entitled to 32 quota rights under the 1999 suckler cow premium scheme. The maximum number of units that may qualify in any herd under the beef cow scheme is 30. The suckler cow and beef cow applications are being processed and payment will issue within two weeks.

The new herdowner also applied for 1999 special beef premium in respect of seven animals. The applications were made in October and November 1999. Applications made in October are not eligible to be paid until January 2000 and November applications until February 2000 due to the retention requirements of the scheme.

Question:

177 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if an additional cow quota will be granted to a person (details supplied) in County Galway in 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26145/99]

There is no record in my Department of having received an application from the person named for an allocation of suckler cow quota from the year 2000 national reserve. I have arranged to have an application form sent to him immediately. If he does apply, and he may do so up to 23 December 1999, his application will be considered in the light of the priority category he applies under. He will be allocated quota if he is found to be eligible and if there is sufficient quota available to allow an allocation to be made to him.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Question:

178 Mrs. B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason for the delay in payment of cattle headage and sheep headage to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry in view of the fact that the area aid cleared his application on 19 October 1999; and when payment will be made. [26146/99]

Payment of £485.00 under the 1999 cattle headage scheme has now issued to the person named. The person named applied on 224 sheep under the 1999 sheep headage scheme. The maximum number of animals payable under this scheme is 200 and payment of £2,220, including top-up of £220, has also now issued to the person named.

Michael Ring

Question:

179 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1999 cattle and sheep headage and premia. [26147/99]

There are various problems with the 1999 area aid application submitted by the person named. My Department has outlined each problem in detail to him and is awaiting a response. No payments can issue until this matter has been satisfactorily resolved.

Michael Ring

Question:

180 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1999 cattle headage. [26148/99]

The person named included commonage in his 1999 area aid application, but did not provide proof of his entitlement to claim this commonage. He has been contacted in this regard. Additionally, an overclaim has been identified on two of the land parcels claimed by him in 1999. Maps have issued to him and he has also been informed of the extent of this overclaim. No payments can issue until all these outstanding issues have been resolved.
