Vol. 512 No. 5

Written Answers. - Farm Retirement Scheme.

Billy Timmins

Question:

73 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the progress on the application by a person (details supplied) in County Wicklow under the early retirement scheme in view of the fact that she has complied with the requirements; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26530/99]

The application in this case was lodged in the local FDS office on 20 April 1999. On examination of the file the applicant was advised that her husband would have to sign a declaration undertaking to cease all farming activity definitively. My Department has recently written to the applicant's solicitors informing them that as this undertaking has not been given the application has been deemed ineligible.
