Vol. 512 No. 7

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Question:

105 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if a sheep headage payment will be released for a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27216/99]

The person registered under herd No. U1091235 agreed to an amendment to her 1999 area aid application to allow two parcels of land included in her application to be transferred to another herdowner's application. Consequently, the final declared area on her area aid form was 0 .71 hectares. She does not therefore satisfy the minimum three hectares required in order to qualify for headage payments.

Similarly in the case of herdowner U1051829 the executor of his estate agreed to an amendment to the 1999 area aid application, giving another herdowner the right to claim the only parcel of land on the application. Therefore, no area aid based payments including headage can issue on foot of this application.

Ivan Yates

Question:

106 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if beef cow headage payments will be expedited to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford; and if the payments will be made manually if there is a computer problem. [27218/99]

The person named will be paid his entitlement under the 1999 beef cow scheme within the next seven days.

John Ellis

Question:

107 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if his Department will pay 1998 cattle headage to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [27267/99]

The herdowner lodged an appeal concerning his 1998 cattle headage application. The headage and premia appeals unit examined the appeal and the herdowner was notified on 29 November 1999 that his appeal was unsuccessful. If the herdowner is not satisfied with the outcome to his appeal he has the right to bring his case to the Office of the Ombudsman.

John Ellis

Question:

108 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if his Department will pay cattle headage to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo. [27268/99]

The person named was not the registered herdowner of the herd number quoted at the time he applied for 1999 cattle headage and suckler cow premium grants and, accordingly, was not eligible for payment of those grants. My Department wrote to the person named on 8 September 1999 advising that consequently no grants were payable under the terms and conditions governing these schemes. He was given the opportunity to have this decision reviewed by writing to my Department setting out any facts which he wished to put forward to support his case. He visited his local office of the Department on 8 December 1999 where he completed a review form, and the matter is currently being examined.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

109 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim will be paid 1998 and 1999 cattle headage and REP scheme payments. [27269/99]

The application for payment under the REP scheme is currently being processed and payment should issue before Christmas.

A cheque in the amount of £300 issued on 27 September 1998 for 1998 cattle headage and a cheque for the sum of £324 is issuing today for the 1999 cattle headage.
