Written Answers. - Northern Ireland Issues.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin

Question:

188 Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has raised, with the British authorities, the presence on 12 January 2000 in Monaghan town of RUC members outside a Sinn Féin meeting and their following of Sinn Féin Assembly member, Mr. Francis Molloy, across the Border as far as Middletown RUC barracks. [1776/00]

I am aware of the allegations that RUC members were present in Monaghan town on 12 January and followed the individual in question across the Border. When these were brought to my attention, I instructed that the matter be raised with the British authorities through the British-Irish Intergovernmental Secretariat in Belfast, and I am awaiting a response.
