Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Moynihan

Question:

226 Mr. M. Moynihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason headage payments have not been made to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [1072/00]

Under the terms and conditions of the headage schemes applicants for grants must occupy and farm at least three hectares of utilised agricultural land in an area designated as disadvantaged. As the person named does not occupy and farm lands designated as disadvantaged he is not eligible for grants under the headage schemes. In any event, no application was received from the person named under the headage schemes.

The person named made one 1999 special beef premium application. This application was received on 11 August 1999 and listed a total of 18 animals. This application is the subject of a field inspection and a decision regarding payment will be made when the result is known.

Michael Ring

Question:

227 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason a 1999 cattle headage payment for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo was restricted due to forage in view of the fact that he submitted proof of title deeds as verification of the forage area; and the parcel of land where the problem occurs. [1073/00]

As stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 117 of 15 December 1999, one of the parcels claimed by the person named in his 1999 area aid application overlaps with a parcel of land claimed by another applicant. Both herdowners have been written to, with a view to resolving the problem and the herdowner's response is now being considered.

In addition an overclaim was identified on one of the land parcels claimed by the person named. Maps have issued to him and he has also been informed of the extent of this overclaim.

No further payments can issue until these matters have been satisfactorily resolved.

The person named was paid £1,595.50 under the 1999 cattle headage scheme on 15 December 1999. This payment was based on forage area of 25.51 hectares. When the issues concerning his 1999 area aid application are resolved, his entitlement under this scheme will be recalculated.

Michael Ring

Question:

228 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if there is another person apart from a person (details supplied) in County Mayo claiming a parcel in County Mayo; and, if so, if he will give details in this regard. [1074/00]

The person named is the only applicant claiming the parcel in question as part of his 1999 area aid application.
