Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Herd Numbers.

Ivan Yates

Question:

303 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if it was appropriate to change the herd number for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford from one farmer to another in view of the dispute in relation to the shareholding of a company associated with this; and if the herd number will revert to the farmer's name. [1823/00]

The transfer of the herd number in question was approved as it was considered appropriate to do so.

John Perry

Question:

304 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development further to Parliamentary Question No. 134 of 14 December 1999, the progress, if any, made on the entries to his Department's electronic database on a 1998 area aid application by a person (details supplied); when payment will be made; the reason for the delay; the amount which will be paid; the timescale involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1850/00]

As stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 134 of 14 December 1999, a problem arose in that the applicant did not submit a map showing the boundaries of the plots included on his application. Maps were subsequently issued to the herdowner and following their return the changes were entered on the Department's electronic database. The person named applied on four beef cows and four other animals under the 1998 cattle headage scheme. His entitlement under this scheme, amounting to £432.00, will issue to him within the next seven days. The person named also applied on four suckler cows under the 1998 suckler cow premium scheme but as he does not hold a suckler cow quota he is not entitled to payment on these animals in accordance with clause 11 of the terms and conditions governing this scheme.
