Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Suckler Cow Quota.

John Perry

Question:

317 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if an application for a suckler cow quota will be approved for a person (details supplied) in view of the fact that due to financial pressure he is dependent on the quota to make his farm viable; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1972/00]

An application for an allocation of suckler cow quota from the year 2000 national reserve has been received from the person named. Some 7,000 applications have been received in my Department and these are presently being recorded and processed in accordance with the criteria governing the allocations from this reserve. It is, therefore, not possible to say at this stage what the result of individual applications may be. It is envisaged that all applicants will be notified, by the end of February at the latest, of the result of their applications.
