329 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Finance the arrangements made in relation to the public service for payment to workers who had to man emergency services over the millennium period; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27442/99]
A Labour Court hearing took place on the 14 December 1999 in relation to the claim by the Alliance of Health Service Unions for special payments in respect of the millennium holiday period in addition to normal premium rates of pay. The Labour Court issued its finding on 20 December 1999.
Both the employers and the trade unions accepted the recommendations issued by the Labour Court. The terms of the agreement were subsequently accepted by employers and trade unions in the remainder of the public service.
