Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

388 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will provide funds for a stand-alone venous clinic in St. James's Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1148/00]

The clinic referred to by the Deputy will be considered by the hospital authorities in the context of the development of a joint supra-regional service in vascular surgery over the next two years. The establishment of the joint-supra regional service incorporates a number of measures aimed at improving the delivery of vascular services. In this regard, my Department has already approved an additional consultant surgeon post with sessional commitments to St. James's Hospital, the Adelaide and Meath Hospital, incorporating the National Children's Hospital and the Midland Health Board.
