Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Services.

Willie Penrose

Question:

396 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps, if any, he will take to ensure that a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath is immediately admitted for a hip operation to the orthopaedic unit at Tullamore General Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1156/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Westmeath is the statutory responsibility of the Midland Health Board in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
